Chrome Plating

With chrome plating – just like with nickel – a corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant layer is applied. By providing a metal part for a machine or other type of tool with a chrome coating, the strong properties of both metals are combined. The base metal can absorb the mechanical loads of the part, while the coating protects it against, for example, corrosion, wear or aggressive substances.

Chrome plating structure

With chrome plating, the coating is very hard and provided with the correct surface structure. This results among other tings in a higher wear resistance. And yet it retains the proper structure needed to lubricate it when rubbing against other parts or seals.

Technical Specifications

Technoplating Nijkerk is the only company in the Netherlands to use HEEF 25 for chrome plating. This guarantees an exceptionally high hardness, corrosion resistance and wear resistance through the application of our techniques.

Chrome plating thickness

The layer thicknesses for chrome plating can vary from 10 microns to 1000 microns and more. Thicker layers (from 400 microns) are applied in several operations. It is then also necessary to regrind products. We consider layer thicknesses from 0.5 mm as hard chrome plating.

Other operations

On request, products can also be partially treated. Chrome plating can be performed in combination with other treatments, such as honing and polishing.
